Synopsis
A portrait of the engineer Jürg Conzett from Grisons. The engineering office of Jürg Conzett in the center of Chur has existed in its present form since 1992. Conzett builds bridges, access roads, abutments, galleries, and infrastructure buildings: In other words, buildings that can be found everywhere. We see them every day, usually without noticing them. In the late 1990s, Conzett constructed two footbridges across the Viamala, the Hinterrhein’s most inaccessible and wildest gorge. For one he chose wood as building material, for the other granite and steel. Both bridge constructions are structures that he developed from his sound historical knowledge, which is probably the reason for their novel, independent character. “Defying gravity, sometimes it is possible,” Conzett says mischievously and remains with both feet firmly anchored to the ground.
