Synopsis
A double portrait of the two Grisons architects Gion A.Caminada and Peter Zumthor. The two architects Gion A.Caminada and Peter Zumthor both live and work in the Grisons Canton, one that lives from its impressive Alpine scenery and ski slopes. In the wavering between rustic tradition, on the one hand, and the leisure industry, on the other hand, both architects seek simplicity, essence, and minimalism, while coming to different architectural solutions in doing so. Accordingly, the film is also a study of tradition and modernism in Alpine architecture. Zumthor’s thermal bath in Vals, which at the time of filming was still under construction and is meanwhile world renowned, can be cited as a successful example of Alpine construction.
